Description

The German Mercedes factory team entered three cars in the 1923 Indianapolis 500, all three of which qualified for the event, starting in 8th, 11th, and 23rd positions. Christian Warner finished in 11th position, the best result of the three entries.

One of these cars was later highly modified and was entered in the 1937 Vanderbilt Cup Race at Roosevelt Raceway. The cover of the May 29th, 1937 edition of the Saturday Evening Post featured a rendering of this racer.
